Lead Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
The average lead export price stood at $2,164 per ton in December 2021, with a decrease of -13.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2021 an increase of 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,504 per ton in November 2021, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($2,505 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($1,654 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average lead import price amounted to $2,515 per ton, declining by -14.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2021 an increase of 46% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,957 per ton, and then shrank in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,586 per ton), while the price for China ($2,392 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+26.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Exports in Malaysia
In 2022, the amount of lead exported from Malaysia contracted to 63K tons, declining by -11.9% compared with 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year.
In value terms, lead exports reduced notably to $127M in 2022. In general, exports recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 57% against the previous year.

Lead Imports in Malaysia
