Lead Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022
The average lead export price stood at $2,582 per ton in June 2022, jumping by 24% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2021 to June 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($3,226 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1,871 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2021 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022
The average lead import price stood at $1,943 per ton in 2022, falling by -16.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 95% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,005 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($29,779 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($242 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+37.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Exports in Nigeria
In 2022, the amount of lead exported from Nigeria soared to 100K tons, jumping by 23% on the previous year. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 414%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
