Lead Price in Portugal (CIF) - 2023
The average lead import price stood at $2,226 per ton in July 2023, declining by -11.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 11% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,518 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($8,532 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($2,016 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+14.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Price in Portugal (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average lead export price amounted to $2,462 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,568 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Spain.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Spain amounted to +1.4% per month.
Lead Imports in Portugal
Lead imports into Portugal shrank to 18K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -9.9% against the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 6.3%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 20K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, lead imports dropped to $42M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 21%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $46M, and then dropped in the following year.

Lead Exports in Portugal
