Leather Apparel Price in Belarus (CIF) - 2022
The average leather apparel import price stood at $32.5 per unit in March 2022, increasing by 4.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 99% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $45.8 per unit. From February 2022 to March 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Russia ($114 per unit), while the price for China ($6.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Leather Apparel Price in Belarus (FOB) - 2022
In March 2022, the average leather apparel export price amounted to $21.9 per unit, dropping by -6.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2021 when the average export price increased by 113% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $35.4 per unit in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to March 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to +14.4% per month.
Leather Apparel Imports in Belarus
Leather apparel imports into Belarus contracted to 70K units in 2022, which is down by -10.5% on 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 78K units, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, leather apparel imports shrank to $2.3M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 31%. Imports peaked at $2.5M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
