Leather Apparel Price in China (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average leather apparel export price amounted to $12.8 per unit, reducing by -38.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 172% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $20.7 per unit in August 2023, and then declined sharply in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($51.3 per unit), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($4.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Leather Apparel Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average leather apparel import price amounted to $504 per unit, shrinking by -3.3% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a moderate increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, leather apparel import price decreased by -28.6% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 43% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $707 per unit in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,494 per unit), while the price for Pakistan ($68.6 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Leather Apparel Exports in China
Leather apparel exports from China surged to 10M units in 2022, picking up by 54% against the previous year. Overall, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, leather apparel exports skyrocketed to $175M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +69.3% against 2020 indices.
