Leek Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average leek export price stood at $678 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 7.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 24% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,240 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,779 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mongolia ($254 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Leek Price in China (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average leek import price amounted to $380 per ton, dropping by -71.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 234%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,344 per ton, and then plummeted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($421 per ton), while the price for Belgium totaled $265 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+131.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Leek Exports in China
In 2022, overseas shipments of leeks and other alliaceous vegetables decreased by -31.7% to 42K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 15%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 70K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, leek exports declined markedly to $43M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 26%.

Leek Imports in China
