Lentil Price in Cameroon (FOB) - 2022
The average lentil export price stood at $1,016 per ton in 2022, reducing by -37.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 108%. The export price peaked at $1,628 per ton in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Central African Republic ($2,877 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK totaled $727 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Central African Republic (+13.8%).

In 2022, the average lentil import price amounted to $1,162 per ton, waning by -30.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 56% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,673 per ton in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,348 per ton), while the price for India ($665 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Exports in Cameroon
In 2022, overseas shipments of lentils decreased by -32.1% to 264 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 75%.
In value terms, lentil exports plummeted to $268K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 264% against the previous year.
