Lettuce and Chicory Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average lettuce and chicory import price amounted to $1,601 per ton, growing by 3.2% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated mild growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, lettuce and chicory import price increased by +3.2% against July 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,204 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($9,838 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,304 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lettuce and Chicory Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023
The average lettuce and chicory export price stood at $1,898 per ton in August 2023, picking up by 1.8% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 25% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,268 per ton. From March 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($1,988 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($1,845 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
