Linseed Oil Price in France (CIF) - 2023
The average linseed oil import price stood at $1,650 per ton in June 2023, surging by 1.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 11% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,386 per ton. From October 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,756 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,545 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Linseed Oil Price in France (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average linseed oil export price amounted to $8,606 per ton, declining by -10.5% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a prominent expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, linseed oil export price decreased by -14.0% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 65% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $10,002 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($13,898 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($3,147 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Linseed Oil Imports in France
In 2022, supplies from abroad of linseed oil decreased by -14% to 6.9K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 8.6% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 9.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, linseed oil imports rose notably to $14M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Linseed Oil Exports in France
In 2022, overseas shipments of linseed oil decreased by -49.1% to 677 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.3K tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, linseed oil exports contracted remarkably to $3.8M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 32% against the previous year.
