Linseed Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
The average linseed import price stood at $865 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -7.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 7.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $955 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($1,026 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($396 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Linseed Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average linseed export price amounted to $1,485 per ton, declining by -12.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 36% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,694 per ton in July 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($2,721 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($1,179 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Linseed Imports in the Netherlands
In 2022, purchases abroad of linseed was finally on the rise to reach 101K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports showed strong growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
