In August 2023, the average liquefied propane import price amounted to $492 per ton, surging by 7.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 12% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $651 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($521 per ton), while the price for Norway ($483 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average liquefied propane export price stood at $745 per ton in 2022, rising by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $937 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
