Liquefied Propane Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023

The average liquefied propane import price stood at $684 per ton in September 2023, surging by 12% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $792 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Indonesia ($743 per ton) and Angola ($692 per ton), while the price for Qatar ($675 per ton) and Australia ($682 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Angola (+14.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average liquefied propane export price stood at $3,318 per ton in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the export price saw resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 361%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($34,045 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa totaled $2,639 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lao People's Democratic Republic (+25.8%).

For the third year in a row, Thailand recorded decline in shipments abroad of liquefied propanes, which decreased by -60.8% to 453 kg in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a dramatic shrinkage. The smallest decline of -42.3% was in 2021.

In value terms, liquefied propane exports dropped rapidly to $1.5K in 2022. Overall, exports showed a dramatic decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 166%.
