In 2022, the average liquefied propane import price amounted to $79 per ton, falling by -28.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price faced a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 59%. The import price peaked at $625 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Trinidad and Tobago amounted to +5.6% per year.

Liquefied Propane Imports in Venezuela

For the fourth year in a row, Venezuela recorded growth in purchases abroad of liquefied propanes, which increased by 4.8% to 153K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 4.8%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, liquefied propane imports dropped remarkably to $12M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 3.5% against the previous year.
