In August 2023, the average liqueurs and cordials import price amounted to $9.8 per litre, surging by 9.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 19% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $11.4 per litre. From April 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($16.7 per litre), while the price for the Czech Republic ($7.8 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average liqueurs and cordials export price stood at $17.9 per litre in August 2023, growing by 70% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a tangible expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, liqueurs and cordials export price increased by +74.3% against June 2023 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($92.3 per litre), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($3.9 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Liqueurs and Cordials Imports in Switzerland
For the fourth consecutive year, Switzerland recorded growth in overseas purchases of liqueurs and cordialses, which increased by 9.7% to 4.2M litres in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 12%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, liqueurs and cordials imports expanded notably to $36M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
