In 2022, the average live fish import price amounted to $20,463 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 274% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $20,583 per ton, leveling off in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($124,000 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,065 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+20.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
