In June 2023, the average live fish import price amounted to $7,301 per ton, falling by -11.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 44% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $8,444 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($35,481 per ton), while the price for France ($4,389 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average live fish export price stood at $30,685 per ton in 2022, jumping by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed resilient growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($284,704 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($7,081 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
