Lysine Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average lysine import price amounted to $1,367 per ton, increasing by 4.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 15% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,117 per ton. From January 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,881 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,182 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Lysine Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
The average lysine export price stood at $1,455 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -11.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 18% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $2,428 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Romania ($1,547 per ton) and Ukraine ($1,527 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($1,181 per ton) and Italy ($1,265 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (-1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Lysine Imports in Poland
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in purchases abroad of lysine and its esters, and salts thereof, when their volume increased by 0.9% to 54K tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a noticeable setback.
In value terms, lysine imports soared to $107M in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Lysine Exports in Poland
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of lysine and its esters, and salts thereof decreased by -23% to 10K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 102%.
In value terms, lysine exports stood at $25M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 104% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
