Maize (Green) Price in Germany (CIF) - 2024
The average maize (green) import price stood at $3,115 per ton in January 2024, with an increase of 6.8% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2023 to January 2024, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 11% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,557 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,887 per ton), while the price for India ($2,131 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Maize (Green) Price in Germany (FOB) - 2022
The average maize (green) export price stood at $2,505 per ton in 2022, dropping by -7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 21% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,949 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($3,648 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,109 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of maize (green) decreased by -8.6% to 137K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend.
