Maize (Green) Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2024

The average maize (green) export price stood at $1,390 per ton in March 2024, surging by 6.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.9% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,552 per ton. From May 2023 to March 2024, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($6,444 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($451 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Maize (Green) Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2024

In March 2024, the average maize (green) import price amounted to $627 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2023 an increase of 21% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $969 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to March 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

From March 2023 to March 2024, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Myanmar amounted to 0.0% per month.

Maize (Green) Exports in Thailand

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of maize (green), when their volume decreased by -5.4% to 50K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 12%.

In value terms, maize (green) exports contracted to $74M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 9.2%.
