Maize (Green) Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average maize (green) export price amounted to $2,711 per ton, surging by 4.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 74%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,796 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($3,828 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($275 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+19.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Maize (Green) Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
The average maize (green) import price stood at $528 per ton in 2022, picking up by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 97% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $985 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,350 per ton), while the price for Kenya ($68 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+70.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
