Maize Oil Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022
The average maize oil import price stood at $1,578 per ton in 2022, picking up by 33% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 45%. The import price peaked at $1,655 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,511 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,569 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Maize Oil Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
In September 2022, the average maize oil export price amounted to $3,823 per ton, picking up by 5.6% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a pronounced expansion from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, maize oil export price decreased by -1.0% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 when the average export price increased by 38% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,861 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In September 2022, the countries with the highest prices were the Philippines ($3,860 per ton) and Indonesia ($3,818 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($2,957 per ton) and Kuwait ($3,731 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Maize Oil Imports in Singapore
In 2022, approx. 52K tons of maize oil were imported into Singapore; jumping by 56% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a temperate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 70%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 77K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, maize oil imports soared to $82M in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
