The average mandarins import price stood at $963 per ton in December 2021, growing by 3.2% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a prominent expansion from January 2021 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.1% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, mandarins import price decreased by -21.3% against October 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 38% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,223 per ton in October 2021; however, from November 2021 to December 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($10,314 per ton), while the price for Syrian Arab Republic ($335 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+31.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mandarins Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, the amount of fruit, edible imported into Kuwait amounted to 16K tons, remaining relatively unchanged against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 17K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mandarins imports shrank to $13M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 26%.
