The average mandarins import price stood at $1,162 per ton in 2022, increasing by 1.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,827 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,161 per ton), while the price for Australia amounted to $1,161 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-8.6%).
Mandarins Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of fruit, edible, when their volume decreased by -26% to 18K tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 108%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 25K tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, mandarins imports dropped dramatically to $21M in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 99% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $29M, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
