Manuka Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022
The average manuka export price stood at $4,063 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -26.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 68% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,526 per ton in 2021, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,337 per ton), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($1,648 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Manuka Price in Kenya (CIF) - 2022
The average manuka import price stood at $1,806 per ton in 2022, picking up by 13% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 15%. The import price peaked at $3,477 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($8,319 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($431 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Manuka Exports in Kenya
In 2022, approx. 1.2 tons of manuka were exported from Kenya; increasing by 15% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports, however, faced a dramatic decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 120% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 109 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, manuka exports declined notably to $5K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a dramatic slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 100% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $496K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Manuka Imports in Kenya
In 2022, approx. 401 tons of manuka were imported into Kenya; reducing by -30.7% on the previous year. In general, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase.
