Marble and Travertine Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
The average marble and travertine import price stood at $1,192 per ton in December 2021, with an increase of 474% against the previous month. Overall, the import price posted prominent growth. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Greece ($2,068 per ton), while the price for Italy ($269 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Namibia (+246.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average marble and travertine export price stood at $136 per ton in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 49%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $174 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +10.9% per year.
Marble and Travertine Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, imports of marble and travertine into Malaysia soared to 16K tons, growing by 29% against the year before. In general, total imports indicated slight growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -18.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 20K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, marble and travertine imports surged to $4.1M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt decline.

In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 74%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 5.6K tons, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, marble and travertine exports fell sharply to $598K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $755K, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
