The average mattress import price stood at $67.8 per unit in September 2023, increasing by 1.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $84.6 per unit in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($467 per unit), while the price for China amounted to $63.4 per unit.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+8.9%).

In 2022, the average mattress export price amounted to $113 per unit, which is down by -11.2% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 44% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $127 per unit in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($1,050 per unit), while the average price for exports to Japan ($17 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
