Meat Price in Colombia (CIF) - 2022
The average meat import price stood at $2,682 per ton in 2022, reducing by -1.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 16%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,184 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were the United States ($2,760 per ton) and Chile ($2,457 per ton), while the price for Canada ($2,165 per ton) and Spain ($2,259 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Meat Price in Colombia (FOB) - 2022
The average meat export price stood at $4,527 per ton in 2022, surging by 3.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6,177 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($5,596 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($3,516 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Meat Imports in Colombia
In 2022, the amount of meat imported into Colombia totaled 136K tons, with an increase of 13% compared with the previous year. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +83.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 62%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, meat imports expanded sharply to $364M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +100.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Meat Exports in Colombia
In 2022, overseas shipments of meat decreased by -24.1% to 40K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 66%.
In value terms, meat exports contracted sharply to $182M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 102%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $233M, and then dropped notably in the following year.
