Meat Price in Portugal (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average meat import price amounted to $5,387 per ton, surging by 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($8,803 per ton), while the price for Spain ($4,501 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average meat export price amounted to $3,495 per ton, with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,936 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 65K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, meat exports fell to $184M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
