Meat Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average meat import price amounted to $3,145 per ton, falling by -2.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 22%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,478 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($6,808 per ton), while the price for Nepal ($519 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Meat Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
The average meat export price stood at $3,904 per ton in 2022, surging by 38% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $6,290 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,224 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($2,491 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Meat Imports in Vietnam
Meat imports into Vietnam dropped to 323K tons in 2022, declining by -2.1% against the year before. Overall, imports faced a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9.6% against the previous year.

Meat Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, meat exports from Vietnam reduced to 18K tons, dropping by -10.9% against the year before. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 47%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 21K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, meat exports surged to $71M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year.
