Memories Price in New Zealand (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average memories import price amounted to $5.5 per unit, picking up by 4.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 175% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $14.8 per unit. From October 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($9.9 per unit), while the price for Thailand ($3.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (-1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Memories Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average memories export price amounted to $19 per unit, reducing by -22.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 134% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $35 per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($60 per unit), while the average price for exports to Samoa ($6.9 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Memories Imports in New Zealand
In 2022, purchases abroad of multichip integrated circuits: memories decreased by -16% to 1.7M units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -22.7% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 65%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.2M units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, memories imports reached $6M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 47%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
