Metal Self-Tapping Screw Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average metal self-tapping screw export price stood at $1,916 per ton in June 2023, shrinking by -5.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 23% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,660 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,842 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($1,072 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (-1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Metal Self-Tapping Screw Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average metal self-tapping screw import price stood at $6,314 per ton in June 2023, rising by 3.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 24% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,804 per ton. From August 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($23,026 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($8,175 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Metal Self-Tapping Screw Exports in China
In 2022, overseas shipments of iron or steel self-tapping screws decreased by -6.2% to 462K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 44%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 492K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, metal self-tapping screw exports expanded remarkably to $1.3B in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
