The average mica; powder import price stood at $449 per ton in 2022, falling by -8.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 58% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $496 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($547 per ton), while the price for China stood at $247 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+8.1%).
Mica; Powder Imports in Bangladesh
In 2022, approx. 121 tons of mica; powders were imported into Bangladesh; declining by -7.6% against the previous year. In general, imports faced a sharp reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 18%.
In value terms, mica; powder imports contracted notably to $54K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 45%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $64K, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
