Millet Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023
The average millet import price stood at $689 per ton in July 2023, growing by 5.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 11% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $701 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($1,321 per ton), while the price for Russia ($350 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Millet Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average millet export price amounted to $3,415 per ton, falling by -4.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 136% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $4,412 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($7,362 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($952 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Millet Imports in Belgium
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of millet, when their volume decreased by -16.2% to 27K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 14% against the previous year.
In value terms, millet imports expanded rapidly to $16M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Millet Exports in Belgium
