Millet Price in China (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average millet export price amounted to $1,216 per ton, rising by 9.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 16% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,603 per ton. From May 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,038 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($704 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Millet Price in China (CIF) - 2022
The average millet import price stood at $16,333 per ton in 2022, dropping by -85.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 19,818%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $112,500 per ton, and then fell markedly in the following year.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Belarus.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Myanmar amounted to +4.8% per year.
Millet Exports in China
In 2022, the amount of millet exported from China dropped sharply to 4.2K tons, falling by -15% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports faced a deep downturn. The smallest decline of -6.9% was in 2021.
In value terms, millet exports shrank significantly to $5.6M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 23% against the previous year.

Millet Imports in China
In 2022, supplies from abroad of millet was finally on the rise to reach 3 kg after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a precipitous decline.
In value terms, millet imports declined markedly to $49 in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a dramatic curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 269% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $225, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
