Molluscs Price in Colombia (CIF) - 2022
The average molluscs import price stood at $1,891 per ton in February 2022, falling by -30.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2021 when the average import price increased by 67% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,375 per ton. From December 2021 to February 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($10,810 per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($472 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Molluscs Price in Colombia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average molluscs export price amounted to $4,200 per ton, with a decrease of -24.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 168% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $14,119 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Aruba.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Ecuador amounted to +136.4% per year.
Molluscs Imports in Colombia
In 2022, the amount of molluscs (scallops, mussels, cuttle fish, squid and octopus) imported into Colombia fell modestly to 6.9K tons, approximately mirroring 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 139% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 7K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, molluscs imports amounted to $16M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 167%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Overall, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 239%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, molluscs exports reached $31K in 2022. In general, exports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 486% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $47K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
