Molluscs Price in Spain (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average molluscs import price amounted to $5,952 per ton, growing by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 18% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $7,335 per ton. From February 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Mauritania ($11,425 per ton), while the price for Chile ($2,722 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Molluscs Price in Spain (FOB) - 2023
The average molluscs export price stood at $7,024 per ton in August 2023, approximately equating the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,169 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,536 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($3,310 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Molluscs Imports in Spain
Molluscs imports into Spain stood at 347K tons in 2022, surging by 4.3% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 13%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
