Mushroom and Truffle Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average mushroom and truffle import price amounted to $2,790 per ton, surging by 8.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 50%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,765 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($15,412 per ton), while the price for China ($343 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+31.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mushroom and Truffle Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
The average mushroom and truffle export price stood at $8,624 per ton in 2022, dropping by -9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 171%. The export price peaked at $9,500 per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($39,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($1,250 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+55.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mushroom and Truffle Imports in Uganda
In 2022, imports of mushrooms and truffles into Uganda expanded sharply to 19 tons, surging by 6.4% against the year before. Overall, total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, mushroom and truffle imports surged to $52K in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 40% against the previous year.

Mushroom and Truffle Exports in Uganda
Mushroom and truffle exports from Uganda shrank markedly to 197 kg in 2022, which is down by -43.7% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 350 kg, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, mushroom and truffle exports contracted sharply to $1.7K in 2022. In general, exports showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $3.3K, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
