Newsprint Price in France (FOB) - 2023
The average newsprint export price stood at $733 per ton in July 2023, falling by -8.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 11% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $997 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Austria ($863 per ton) and Italy ($768 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($707 per ton) and Switzerland ($719 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Newsprint Price in France (CIF) - 2023
The average newsprint import price stood at $781 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -9.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 7.6% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,035 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Sweden ($977 per ton) and Finland ($959 per ton), while the price for Canada ($681 per ton) and Spain ($691 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Newsprint Exports in France
In 2022, the amount of newsprint exported from France reduced to 359K tons, declining by -11.9% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports faced a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 8.5%.
