Newsprint Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average newsprint import price amounted to $677 per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, import price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, newsprint import price decreased by +0.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 52% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $795 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($805 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($361 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Newsprint Price in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average newsprint export price amounted to $761 per ton, with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 55% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,148 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($2,634 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($90 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lebanon (+39.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Newsprint Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, approx. 2.3K tons of newsprint were imported into Kuwait; reducing by -3.5% compared with the previous year. In general, imports saw a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 7.5%.
In value terms, newsprint imports dropped slightly to $1.6M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a precipitous curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 8.3%.
