Newsprint Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In January 2022, the average newsprint export price amounted to $604 per ton, surging by 8.2% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated prominent growth from January 2021 to January 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2022 figures, newsprint export price increased by +84.5% against January 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2021 when the average export price increased by 9.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in January 2022.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In January 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Ethiopia ($720 per ton) and Egypt ($706 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($546 per ton) and India ($565 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Newsprint Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average newsprint import price amounted to $378 per ton, dropping by -17.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 27%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $803 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Belarus.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Finland amounted to +0.9% per year.
