Newsprint Price in the Dominican Republic (CIF) - 2023
The average newsprint import price stood at $843 per ton in March 2023, which is down by -15.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 62% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,259 per ton. From February 2023 to March 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($868 per ton), while the price for the United States stood at $740 per ton.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Newsprint Price in the Dominican Republic (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average newsprint export price amounted to $851 per ton, declining by -3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $933 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,445 per ton), while the average price for exports to Haiti totaled $833 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Haiti (+4.3%).
Newsprint Imports in the Dominican Republic
Newsprint imports into the Dominican Republic totaled 8.1K tons in 2022, growing by 2.1% against the year before. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep setback.
