Nickel; Unwrought, Alloys Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2022

The average nickel; unwrought, alloys import price stood at $32,210 per ton in 2022, jumping by 45% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, nickel; unwrought, alloys import price increased by +42.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($33,542 per ton), while the price for the United States stood at $30,785 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average nickel; unwrought, alloys export price amounted to $13,863 per ton, increasing by 92% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 195%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $24,381 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Paraguay ($31,909 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States amounted to $11,013 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Paraguay (+14.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of nickel; unwrought, alloyses decreased by -23.5% to 135 tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +20.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 38%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 177 tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, nickel; unwrought, alloys imports totaled $4.4M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of 26 tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, nickel; unwrought, alloys exports rose markedly to $204K in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 89% against the previous year.
