Non-Cane Molasses Price in Greece (CIF) - 2023
The average non-cane molasses import price stood at $286 per ton in August 2023, picking up by 2.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 33% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $329 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Romania ($414 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($227 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Cane Molasses Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average non-cane molasses export price amounted to $332 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 59% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $464 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($384 per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia totaled $329 per ton.

In 2022, overseas purchases of molasses (excluding cane molasses) decreased by -17.7% to 15K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year.
