Non-Liquid Margarine Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average non-liquid margarine import price amounted to $1,762 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 11% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,793 per ton in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to June 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Austria ($2,093 per ton) and Germany ($1,971 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,670 per ton) and Romania ($1,703 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Liquid Margarine Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2023
The average non-liquid margarine export price stood at $2,406 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -3.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 30% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,491 per ton in May 2023, and then shrank slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Croatia ($3,346 per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($1,196 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Liquid Margarine Imports in Hungary
In 2022, approx. 58K tons of non-liquid margarine were imported into Hungary; dropping by -4.3% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 26%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 61K tons, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
In value terms, non-liquid margarine imports surged to $87M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +82.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Non-Liquid Margarine Exports in Hungary
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of non-liquid margarine decreased by -21.8% to 9.9K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 137% against the previous year.
In value terms, non-liquid margarine exports contracted to $18M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 156%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $18M, and then contracted in the following year.
