From 2014 to 2022, global production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Production By Country
China (3.3M tons) constituted the country with the largest volume of non-wheat groats production, comprising approx. 19% of total volume. Moreover, non-wheat groats production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the United States (1.6M tons), twofold. India (1.3M tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a 7.3% share.
In China, non-wheat groats production increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United States (-3.6% per year) and India (+2.5% per year).

The United States (232K tons) and Malaysia (204K tons) represented roughly 28% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Thailand (97K tons) and Afghanistan (96K tons), together generating a 13% share of total imports. Spain (66K tons), Cameroon (43K tons), the Netherlands (41K tons), Canada (40K tons), Iraq (37K tons), the UK (34K tons), Belgium (32K tons), Haiti (27K tons) and Israel (26K tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The average non-wheat groats export price stood at $500 per ton in 2022, growing by 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
