Nonwoven Fabric Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average nonwoven fabric export price stood at $2,808 per ton in September 2023, increasing by 2.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight slump. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,469 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($3,667 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($1,737 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Nonwoven Fabric Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average nonwoven fabric import price stood at $8,439 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -10.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 23% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $10,448 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($11,705 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($2,491 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Luxembourg (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Nonwoven Fabric Exports in China
In 2022, shipments abroad of nonwoven fabrics decreased by -12% to 1.2M tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 32%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.4M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, nonwoven fabric exports fell to $4B in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -21.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $5B. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
