Nonwoven Fabric Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average nonwoven fabric import price stood at $5,562 per ton in December 2022, approximately equating the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a slight expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 12% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,858 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($6,437 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($3,662 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Nonwoven Fabric Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
The average nonwoven fabric export price stood at $5,268 per ton in December 2022, standing approximately at the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 1.8% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $5,475 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to December 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In December 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Taiwan (Chinese) ($5,797 per ton) and the Netherlands ($5,778 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($4,172 per ton) and South Korea ($4,598 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Nonwoven Fabric Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, the amount of nonwoven fabrics imported into Vietnam rose notably to 152K tons, with an increase of 8.9% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 160K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, nonwoven fabric imports expanded remarkably to $753M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 39%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Nonwoven Fabric Exports in Vietnam
For the fourth consecutive year, Vietnam recorded growth in shipments abroad of nonwoven fabrics, which increased by 3.9% to 30K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, nonwoven fabric exports expanded modestly to $166M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +66.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 50%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
