Oat Price in Iraq (CIF) - 2022
The average oat import price stood at $1,294 per ton in 2022, increasing by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, oat import price decreased by -30.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 69%. The import price peaked at $1,854 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1,473 per ton), while the price for India ($748 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+180.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Oat Imports in Iraq
In 2022, supplies from abroad of oats decreased by -15.3% to 33 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +32.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year.
In value terms, oat imports expanded modestly to $42K in 2022. In general, imports saw a noticeable setback.
