Office Furniture Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average office furniture import price stood at $11,680 per ton in August 2023, with a decrease of -7.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $13,144 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($13,105 per ton), while the price for the UK ($7,663 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Office Furniture Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average office furniture export price amounted to $39,683 per ton, waning by -12.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 392% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $45,556 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($343,021 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($217 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+66.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Office Furniture Imports in the United States
In 2022, the amount of office furniture (except wood) imported into the United States shrank to 75K tons, which is down by -4.3% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports saw a dramatic slump. The smallest decline of -1.8% was in 2021.
In value terms, office furniture imports soared to $908M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. After two years of decline, shipments abroad of office furniture (except wood) increased by 18% to 4.2K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic decline.
In value terms, office furniture exports amounted to $166M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 7.6%.
