Olive Oil Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022
The average olive oil import price stood at $4,812 per ton in 2022, picking up by 9.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 47%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,340 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Greece ($5,449 per ton) and Spain ($5,319 per ton), while the price for Syrian Arab Republic ($4,019 per ton) and Turkey ($4,093 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average olive oil export price stood at $3,154 per ton in 2022, declining by -11.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 26%. The export price peaked at $3,813 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,605 per ton), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($81 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Palestine (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Olive Oil Imports in Egypt
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of olive oil and its fractions, when their volume increased by 121% to 1.6K tons.
